About Lighthearted Candle Company

I never intended to start a candle company. I was a high school English teacher. I loved my job and was certain that I would retire from it. But then I watched my first daughter meet my second daughter, and in that moment something shifted in me. I knew that I could not go back to my job. In that moment, I realized just how precious and fleeting my time with my littles would be. My husband and I decided we would figure out how to make it work for me to stay home with them. In the space made by my staying home with the girls, I began to create. I called my business “Lighthearted” because it captured the joy and gratitude I felt at the chance to stay at home and watch my babies grow. Smells are uniquely tied to our memories, to the people and experiences that make us feel most alive. Lighthearted Candles celebrate these moments, capturing their scents and bringing them into your home. Lighthearted Candle Company is really just me, with the unfailing support of my husband, chasing a dream while also soaking in all the joys of raising my children. I pour each candle with my own hands and in my own home, during naptime or after bedtime or whenever else I find the margin. I sketch and paint each label illustration at my kitchen table (or sometimes on the couch while watching Friends). And each finished product puts a smile on my face.
