We are proving that businesses can be the adjunct professor. College is not for everyone, and it is certainly not the only path to success. On-the-job training provides pivotal 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and creative problem solving. With college tuition rates at an all-time high, the need for alternative opportunities has never been greater. We must find ways to integrate apprenticeships into the curriculum of high school where youth can explore an industry or variety of industries before making a decision about the next step in their life. For a high school student less inclined to attend college or vocational school, an apprenticeship could be the difference between poverty and realized potential.
