What makes people need things that aren’t necessary? …I always gravitated toward that question. Hanging art, planting flowers in the garden, wearing perfume; there’s something very essential about “non-essentials.” No one needs jewelry per se, but once you find your favorite pieces, you feel naked without them. I love that. That’s the paradox that makes all art special. You don’t need it, but you absolutely need it. After working in a jewelry boutique in my twenties, I realized how much I love connecting people with that intangible need for beauty, the essential non-essentials. Helping people find their perfect piece of jewelry is one way to forge that connection, designing jewelry became an even deeper way to forge that connection. It’s only natural that I became a jewelry designer; designing helps me stay in the vein of what I discovered I loved most - helping connect people to art they can’t live without.
