About Moth and Myth

Our mission at Moth & Myth is to create works inspired by the natural world. Co-run by artists & friends Redd Walitzki and Kari-Lise Alexander in our studio in Seattle, WA. Our work at Moth & Myth provides sustainable and cruelty free alternatives to living creatures. All specimens are based on real species including size & color. Working with the highest quality equipment we produces the finest paper specimens! In 2015, Redd created an assortment of paper butterflies to use for a painting reference. It was impossible to find realistic artificial butterflies for this purpose, and real specimens would have been too fragile, or did not appear life-like enough. Other artists and crafters responded so strongly to these paper-moths and butterflies that Redd began to offer them for sale for others to use and enjoy as well. Kari-Lise joined the partnership in 2018, and since then Moth & Myth has has become renowned for producing cruelty-free and vegan designs showcasing the unique bounty of moths and butterflies. In our creations and brand philosophy, we are eco-aware and sustainability focused, continually finding ways to make our products part of the lower impact movement. Recently we have been able to move our entire creative process in house to our studio in downtown Seattle, which has helped reduce our carbon foot print. We also regularly donate profits to various environmental organizations, including the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. Read their story
