EpiPaws is on a mission to help pets live happy, healthy, and longer lives through epigenetic biomarkers. This DNA-based testing looks at molecules that affect gene expression and allows us to quantify both chronological (physical age) and biological (aging rate) age. Studying the aging rate allows us to better understand how different environmental variables (food, exercise, stressors, etc) affect the health of our pets. EpiPaws was founded by Dr. Andria Beal, PhD after she graduated from Florida International University where she studied epigenetic biomarkers in sharks and dolphins. During her studies, she developed an age estimation test for bottlenose dolphins and saw an opportunity to bring this technology to the pet industry after learning that millions of pets have unknown age. The idea for the company grew to encompass studying epigenetic biomarkers for health monitoring in our companion animals.
