Hi, thanks for stopping by my store. I'm Michelle, an Irish graphic designer and digital illustrator with a passion for all things sustainable. I create retro-inspired illustrations and reproduce these on various media, in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly manner possible. All Ha’penny Design products are made locally in Ireland. It is very important for us to not only produce all of our products in Ireland, but to also ensure that our suppliers and materials are sourced in Ireland too. In doing so, we ensure that our carbon emissions are significantly reduced when it comes to producing our products. In a world that is overly saturated with technology, Ha'penny Design is championing the traditional ways of keeping in touch with loved ones. The idea for our wooden postcards, came about during the Covid 19 pandemic when we were unable to travel more than 5km within our own city to visit loved ones. Tiring of endless zoom calls, I started posting little gifts to family and friends. I created the wooden postcards with illustrations of Irish villages as an homage to the Vintage Tourism Posters of the 1950's, when travel was a rare unattainable experience, just as it was again during the pandemic. These wooden postcards are a sustainable alternative to the traditional postcard. Where the traditional postcard would usually end up in the bin, these wooden postcards are a durable dual purpose gift, a message and a unique piece of art all in one!Read their story
