About Sara Metalsmith

Sara Thompson is an accomplished metalsmith with a BFA in Craft with a concentration in metals from the Oregon College of Art and Craft. She apprenticed as a bench jeweler from the ages of 11 to 16 on Martha’s Vineyard while learning the ropes of running a small business as an artist. She then moved out west and spent her college studies focusing on traditional silversmithing--from fabricating silver teapots to production jewelry. Sara loves making everything from settings by the dozen to one-off silver bowls and her ability to pivot between both modes of creativity. She continues to refine her practice as she exhibits her work all around the country at fine craft shows and enjoys nurturing relationships with galleries and clients. Sara Metalsmith is the business coalescence of Sara Thompson, her decade plus of bench experience, and the occasional studio helper eager to learn. Read their story
