Bouftang is a textile brand inspired by the ocean, born in La Réunion from its founder Nattix’s passion for drawing and the marine world. A diver and former technical manager of the Aquarium of Saint-Gilles, where he worked for nine years, Nattix began drawing the marine species around him. Bouftang’s story began in 2007, during an eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise. Lava flows reached the ocean and brought many deep-sea species to the surface. Nattix took part in their collection with a scientific team and created, in tribute to these creatures, his first design: the "Mean Fish." First printed on stickers, it later became the brand’s first t-shirt. Bouftang was officially launched in 2016. Since then, Nattix has hand-designed collections inspired by diving, surfing and marine life: whales, rays, turtles, sharks, deep-sea fish and surf waves. The brand uses only organic, fair-trade cotton textiles, printed by screen printing with water-based inks. After developing in La Réunion, Bouftang is now continuing its adventure in mainland France with its workshop in Loire-Atlantique (44) and a network of shops sharing its universe and values.Read their story
