Founded in 1989 in Sag Harbor, New York, Sylvester & Co Modern General® is the digital home of Lynda Sylvester’s carefully designed and sourced life supplies. After 35 years on Main Street, we've moved to Main Street Online. Hailed as a “style maker” in a profile by The New York Times, Lynda’s “return to Main Street” philosophy has guided her creative process since the '90s and marks her continued dedication to small, independent manufacturers, makers, and artists. Lynda has always been fascinated with a general store because it intertwines with how people live. People never really change, they always have to talk with each other, connect and have a cup of coffee break.
