Working in her warm, colourful studio in Hampshire on the south coast of the UK, Joanne creates beautifully patterned and wonderfully wearable silver and 24k gold jewellery for people who love being close to nature. Joanne’s Golden Collection combines the luxurious warmth of soft 24k gold with the strength of silver to create warm, muted two-toned pendants and earrings, whilst the Classic Collection showcases beautifully textured fresh silver. The Woodland Collection takes traditional motifs such as leaf, flower, fox and hare and gives them a playful and contemporary twist to create pendants, necklaces and brooches. Her favourites are the foxes and hares as they are more of a challenge to saw from the sheet metal - but don’t tell the other designs! Each piece of Joanne's jewellery is designed and created using a mix of modern and traditional techniques. Each design is handcut from silver sheet using a jeweller’s saw before bails, earwires and brooch fittings are securely soldered in place. Even the brooch posts are handcrafted from square wire cast from recycled silver. In contrast, a computer and laser engraver turn Joanne’s illustrations into sheets of embossed card. Passing these with silver and gold through a rolling mill (another traditional piece of equipment) creates wonderfully tactile raised patterns without the use of traditional etching chemicals - a modern and more environmentally-friendly approach!
