We founded 1979 LA in 2019. Initially, the bags were gifts for out of town clients. We wanted something authentically made in LA. We could find tote bags that said “made in LA.” But, they were made in China. We knew we could do better. So, we started designing our own bags, sourcing the highest quality denim and canvas available and working with local vendors to manufacture. To this day, all of our bags are sewn in downtown Los Angeles by the same husband and wife team we started working with in 2019.
