About Vidal Tecidos

The company VIDAL TECIDOS was founded in 1966 by José Manuel Vidal. The initial activity was the resale of products and technical fabrics for the automotive industry. During the 1970s, the company expanded its activity to the distribution of products and fabrics for the upholstery and furniture industry. It was only at the end of the 1970s that the first decorative fabrics began to be traded, at the time velvets manufactured in Portugal, which immediately hinted at a shift in the orientation of VIDAL TECIDOS. The early 1980s marked a conversion of the company, specializing it in decorative fabrics. Plain and printed chintz, velvet, gobelin, jacquard fabrics, silks, linens, and cottons came to represent a very important share of its turnover. Immediately, it opened its first megastore in Campo de Ourique, Lisbon. A 500 m2 space with a fabric exhibition that revolutionized the decoration market in Portugal. The 1990s served to consolidate a name that occupies a prominent place in the world of decorative fabrics. At the beginning of the new millennium, Vidal Tecidos opened its second megastore in Porto, an ambitious 900 m2 space in the heart of Avenida da Boavista, which quickly conquered the market in the North of Portugal. In 2005, Vidal Prestige was created, a luxury collection with the best and most exclusive creations from the greatest international designers.
