As a small girl growing up in a little southern delta town of Yazoo City, Mississippi, the kitchen was my center of the universe. Every special memory I have as a young girl are from the kitchen of our two-story century old rambling home. All the women in my family on both sides were excellent bakers. Nanny and Betsy Bug...the bearers of Lizzie's Cheese Straw recipe...made some of the best fudge and divinity in the county.
