Founder Marley Carlton, a former kindergarten teacher, discovered her passion for crafting unique, handmade pieces while balancing her career and her personal creative pursuits. It all started as a side project—a way to unwind after busy days in the classroom and weekends spent soaking up inspiration at a local interior design store in Columbia, SC. Marley began designing with a simple goal: to create meaningful, heartfelt items that connect people to special moments and stories. In her fifth year of teaching, Marley took a leap of faith and turned Sidebar Designs into a full-time endeavor. The name, inspired by her early days of having a “side” business, also reflects the intimate, conversational nature of her work—each piece feels like a meaningful "sidebar" to life's bigger stories. At Sidebar Designs, every creation is deeply personal, blending Marley's keen eye for design with her belief in the power of spirituality and authenticity.
