Founded in our kitchen in 2016, Public Thread began with a clear mission: to provide living wages for our staff, promote worker ownership, and embrace sustainability in all our endeavors. We believe in the power of textiles to address social and environmental issues creatively and educationally. At Public Thread, we partner with manufacturers to divert their scrap and surplus textiles from landfills. By repurposing these materials, we create beautiful, small-batch products that not only look good but do good. Our process of designing backwards allows us to innovate continuously and craft unique, purposeful items. Education is at the heart of what we do. We are committed to raising awareness about sustainable practices and the impact of textile waste on the environment. Through workshops, collaborations, and community outreach, we aim to inspire others to think creatively about repurposing and sustainability. Every product is meticulously produced in small batches right here in Grand Rapids, MI. Our dynamic team is always at work, designing and making new products.
