About Laura Jane Kirton

Hello, my name is Laura (they/she)! I’m a neurodivergent illustrator and pattern designer located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. If you ask me why I create art, I’ll tell you it’s because I have to. It’s one of the few things in life that feels like it makes sense to me. My art is very much inspired by my neurodivergent and queer identities, as well as my love for nature. The process of creating is always just as important to me as the final piece. I love the way moving paint on paper feels like a dance, the way that mixing colors together brings me such joy, and the way that arranging elements to create a pattern soothes my anxiety. I love finding inspiration from the tiny details in nature; like the way the light dances through the leaves of trees, or moss growing on rocks, or the many subtle color differences in color on the petals of flowers. I love creating art that helps people feel seen and celebrated in their minority identities. Read their story
