About Sabra’s Art

I'm Sabra! I always knew that in my soul, I was really an artist. But sometimes the twists and turns to where our hearts are happiest takes time and worldly experience. After serving as one of the first female firefighters in the United States, and 30 years of providing life saving care to others as a Critical Care nurse in big city emergency departments, I found time to explore my artistic talents. After more than a decade as a potter, I took up water color and was hooked. I have continued to expand and develop my watercolor art skills across both traditional and non-traditional subjects. Over the past 15 years, I have studied under many masters: Charles Reid, John Salminen, Dennis Pendleton. I studied botanical illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens. I stumbled across the art of Chinese brush painting and have studied with Mayee Futterman, Ning Yeh, and Lorean Weng. I have not been able to put down the paint brush since I started several years ago. While this is my current love, I cannot help myself from occasionally shining a light on the simple things I find beautiful, such as an old truck, a Coors signing my home town, or even a big old grain elevator that greeted me every morning on my way to work. Regardless of the medium, my work serves as a mirror to the beauty I see in this world. It is everywhere. Please explore my work and I'm sure you'll find something that touches your heart.
