This was the birthplace of João Nunes Freitas and many of the world’s greatest sustainable tuna fishermen and industry innovators. In 1930, the innovative pole and line tuna fishing vessel, Santo Amaro, was launched in San Diego California bringing our family's Portuguese fishing traditions to the US and the world.
