One year ago, I was studying the prototype in my hands and admiring how this little safety alarm was able to be a pillar of support for me everywhere I go. Being a female out-of-province university student first time away from family or friends, it was the first time I truly felt alone. Personal insecurity and physical insecurity surfaced as a result, exemplifying the impact. My safety keychain gave me the support and reassurance I needed to walk from residence to those late classes, those 10 p.m. varsity training, and to those countless exams. As I became more familiar with campus and adjusted to university, my safety keychains stayed by my side as I went to networking events, pitched partnerships to clubs, and spoke with businesses. Since embarking on this journey, I have been able to spread this powerful tool for empowerment and confidence to over 1,800 individuals.
