Forgotten Flavors. Found Again. When a Shagbark Hickory tree — quite literally — hit Jarred in the head, it changed how (and where) we see food. Turns out some of the most extraordinary flavors are right in front of us — native plants that sustained communities for centuries before the modern food system forgot they existed. Our story started with a leap of faith: In September 2016, we bought our 22-acre farm in Long Valley, NJ two days before our wedding, with more hope than plan. Our vision shifted over the years, and when that Shagbark Hickory tree – one of the few that naturally sheds its bark – hit Jarred in the head, it felt a bit like the land was trying to send us a message. Today, that tree is at the center of all of our products, but there is so much more to discover -- and we can’t wait to share it with you. It's just the two of us (and three curious little kids who inspire us every day). Every piece of bark is hand-foraged, slow-roasted and crafted into our products by hand — no factory, no shortcuts. We're a first-generation farm still learning as we go, and that curiosity is the heartbeat of everything we make. We're proud to be the only producers of brewed Shagbark Hickory tea and the inventors of SWEETBARK Roasted Hickory Spice — flavors you won't find anywhere else.
