About Smart by Nature

Nestled in Southwestern Colorado, scenic Telluride should be on everyone’s “bucket list.” This idyllic mountain community became our inspiration for abandoning the high stress of corporate life and branch out to focus on taking care of ourselves and helping others do the same. Not surprisingly, Telluride offered many opportunities to learn more about natural ingredients with input from like-minded artisans and handcrafters. Previous work with a mid-size skin care company led us to discover how difficult it is to adequately eliminate harsh chemical preservatives and synthetics from sourced ingredients and base products. Locating labs willing to formulate without these additives was difficult. It became clear that working in-house on a smaller scale was essential to bringing authentic, truly natural products to market. Hence, Smart By Nature was born. Starting with small batch soaps and evolving into a full line of bath and body products, our company is inspired by nature and passionate about sustainability and reducing environmental impacts.
