For generations, Black mothers have passed down the tradition of handcrafted body butters, using natural ingredients to soothe and nourish their families. When my daughter, Terra, was born with eczema, I embarked on a journey to create a safe and effective body butter that would help her delicate skin. Terra’s eczema made it impossible to use many commercially available products for her face, hair, and entire body. Inspired by our rich Jamaican heritage, I began experimenting with different botanical ingredients, carefully selecting those that were gentle and healing.
