I never thought of myself as a "crafter." Sure, I enjoyed little projects here and there over the years, but that was my extent—until I planned my wedding. I was never the girl who dreamed of her wedding or knew what it would be like. Let me tell ya... I LOVED wedding planning! I handled everything—from the decor to the song list—and even wrote the ceremony. My first big decor project was with Sola Wood Flowers. I dyed and arranged them into bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, arches, and more—and loved it. After that, it was, “Hmm… what else can I make?” I created the signs, guestboard, a giant wedding word search, succulent favors, and pretty much all the decor! My friends loved the pieces. One owns a local shop and asked if I’d make some souvenirs to sell there. I accepted and got crafting right away. But I knew I needed a niche that truly screamed “Jen.” Then it came to me—cat crafts. Anyone who knows me knows I’m the crazy cat lady, lol. I care for ferals and help rescue cats who need homes. I also noticed a big lack of cat items compared to dogs and wanted to help change that (no offense to dogs—just wanted more cat stuff!). Anyway, that’s how Made By Scratch Crafts began—a one-woman, cat-loving small business making handmade gifts for cat lovers.
