About Taura

Taura has the power of the earth and the power of fire. It is the continuous search for a modern and classic style at the same time; a fusion between art and poetry, expressed through matter, with grace and energy. I am Martina Bonomo, aka Taura, jewelry designer and goldsmith, specialized in engraving. Born and raised in Milan, I approached the world of goldsmithing in 2011 at Saint Martin in London, and then completed my training at the Ambrosian Goldsmith School in Milan. During the teaching period I discovered burin engraving, a technique that I fell madly in love with and which I perfected during the following years working in the engraving department of the Buccellati company. I create each jewel entirely by hand, from design to polishing, and for this reason each piece is unique and can have details slightly different from the initial model. For the creation of the shape of the jewel I mainly use lost-wax modeling and casting, an artisanal technique that dates back to the Bronze Age, widely used in the world of goldsmithing. The protagonist of all my jewels is the engraving, with which I decorate the metal surface through ancient techniques of the Italian goldsmith tradition.
