About L'Étagère du bas

Working in publishing for ten years, I created my publishing house for children Les Éditions de L'Étagère du bas in 2016 with the support of my husband and collaborator, Fredrik Monteil. Les Éditions de L'Étagère du bas aims to publish illustrated albums for children aged 3 to 11. Beautiful books from yesterday and today, both French creations and titles translated from Swedish, always at the height of children, published in a careful edition, printed in Europe and distributed by Harmonia Mundi. Accompanied by a passionate team, I work every day to offer stimulating books to our young readers. On the agenda of future publications, more and more albums. Why only albums? I like the genre of the album because it combines text, images and the support of the book (the object as such, the format, the paper, the layout, the role of the double page, the importance of white, etc.). The interaction between these different aspects is the issue that interests me the most. In addition, this type of book is the one that offers the greatest amount of diversity in its composition. This freedom, which is extremely enjoyable, gives authors, illustrators and publishers an absolutely endless creative space: everything has to be invented!
