About KOKILI

KÓKILI is an award-winning inter-disciplinary design studio based in New York City focused on interiors, furniture, and product design founded by So Jung Lee. Driven by creating beautiful objects, experiences, and celebrating the optimism of life, we attempt to give all our projects an integrity that comes from experiencing something new, but which at once feels wholly ‘right’. “KÓKILI” derives from the Korean word for elephant — a gentle nod to So Jung’s childhood in Korea and to her family’s children’s toy and stationery company. The name carries forward the legacy of imagination and care. KÓKILI hopes to create spaces and objects that bring a child-like wonder to delight, explore and reconnect with our purest and playful selves. Places are imprinted on our memories through our powerful ability to see, smell and remember, leaving indelible impressions of the places we visit. We are compelled to seek comfort and magic wherever we are. KÓKILI strives to capture these powerful experiences, by traveling widely for inspiration, grounding ourselves in historical context and precedents, and finding modern solutions to create contemporary beauty. We collaborate with custom makers and builders, artisans and artists, indulging in rigorous conversations, to create designs that truly connect with nature, art and beauty.
