About Merete Dèhn

When I was young, I was the girl who always sat knitting in by spare time, and as a teenager I made my first knitting collection. I never knitted from a specific pattern, but from the ideas I had in my head. On a daily basis, I mostly wore clothes I had sewn or knitted myself, and rarely shopped in stores. For as long as I can remember, I have cared a lot about how my clothes should look, feel, and sit on my body. Dèhn Design is much more than just clothes. When I think of the brand I have created, I think of joy, people, passion, frustration, inspiration, hard work, hope, diversity, learning and knowledge. As the company grew, I chose to move production to Europe. It made it possible for me to visit the factory, and meet face to face with the skilled workers who knitted my garments. Having a manufacturer where you can be sure that the employees are safe and well at work should, in my opinion, be the top priority for everyone involved in clothing production. It makes me humble and happy to know that I have been given the opportunity to create jobs for women in a country that does not have nearly the same benefits as we have here in Norway. I feel enormous pride when I see "my ladies" at work, they are all so incredibly skilled and careful! We are talking quality at all levels, which also means that the quality of the final product is fantastic.Read their story
