About the jeweler, Grace Bernhardt: I spent a year living and working in Vieques, Puerto Rico, before hurricanes Irma and Maria hit. A year was enough to fall in love with a quirky kind of paradise. My partner and I didn't want to leave even though our jobs were gone. As the cliche goes, our greatest disaster kicked us into a gear we had yet to experience. I learned patience and the importance of community. I got eaten by mosquitos and started sweating warm Medalla. More importantly, I went out on a limb and still haven't come back.
