Alex and Michael, founders of 3D Scotland, struck up their friendship when they met at university and they have been best friends ever since. 3D Scotland have designed two chess sets celebrating Scotland's two biggest cities. With each set inspired by iconic landmarks throughout Glasgow & Edinburgh. The pieces are manufactured using innovative 3D-printing technology with accuracy of up to 5 microns, and are made from an eco-friendly, soy-bean based material. Each set comes with an informative brochure explaining how to care for the pieces and the history of each landmark. We also sell a variety of peripheral products. Cities in Scotland are often ignored and overlooked in favour of larger cities such as London, Paris,Dubai or New York. We rarely see Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee or Aberdeen captured and admired in a product. There are no high quality products which celebrate the architecture of Scotland, you can go down to Buchannan street or Princes street and buy a model of Big Ben or the Empire State Building but none of the Finnieston Crane or the Sir Walter Scott Monument. Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland's largest cities are important cultural centres - and they should be treated as such. Scottish architecture is innovative and inventive and it needs to be celebrated and appreciated. Our goal is to inspire those who would normally covet "The Big Apple" to start coveting "Auld rekkie" and the "Dear Green Place." Read their story
