THE HISTORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT Peshtemal, generally known as Turkish Towel, is Farsi originated Word means “cloth/cover for back”. The history of Turkish Towel dates back to hundreds of years as part of Turkish Hammam, generally known as Turkish Bath, culture. As its lightness, quick drying and absorptivity, peshtemal is being used not only in hammams but also it became a part of daily use in homes. It is today, due to these characteristics, frequently preferred for beach use and with new designs and colors, it is rapidly becoming a trend among young people. Also due to its ease of use, quality, healthiness, different kinds of product are derived such as bathrobes, rugs, blankets, bags and so on. What makes our products special is not being mass produced. Our peshtemals are produced in a small town called Buldan which is in city of Denizli in Turkey. The history of this region in weaving dates back to Roman period. Also during Ottoman period, this small town used to provide many kind of textile product the Ottoman Sultans palace needed. Buldan is still dominated by small family businesses based on traditional production techniques.
