About Machinations
Machinations began in a Brooklyn studio with one obsession: jewelry that means something. Every piece is hand-carved in wax or cast directly from nature—thorn branches, apple blossoms, raven talons pressed into metal so the finished work still carries the texture of the living thing it came from. I work primarily in sterling silver, often touched with 23.5K gold through keum-boo, an ancient Korean technique that fuses gold to silver by hand. The result is talismanic jewelry rooted in old symbolism—protection, endurance, mortality, transformation—made for people who want to wear meaning, not trends. Nothing here is mass-produced. Each piece is made in small batches, finished by hand, and built to be kept and passed down. The aesthetic is dark and romantic, drawn equally from gothic tradition and the natural world: the beauty in thorns, bone, and bloom.
