About Pedro Mesa Studio

I am a Colombian interdisciplinary artist playing with (mis)translations of cultural identity through drawing, painting, and sculptural installation. My practice is based in New York City, and engages with visual traditions from Latin America, examining how histories of concealment, eroticism, and colonial display shape contemporary image-making. My work has been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators in New York, HERE Arts, and Creative Drive in New York, at the China Academy of Art Museum in Hangzhou, The C.C. Bobila in Spain, and at PULSE Art Fair in Miami, among others. In Colombia, at Galería La Cometa, Galería Plular Nodo Cultural, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Center for History, Memory, and Peace in Bogotá, and the Escuela Taller de Barichara in Santander. My work has been featured in Brooklyn Rail, TEDx, Behance, VICE, XIBT Contemporary Art Magazine, Arcadia, Semana, El Tiempo, and El Espectador, among others.
