The Domaine de la Femme Allongée was created in 2006 by Jean-Paul Gracia, joined by his son Albin in 2016. The estate is located in Assignan, a small village of 160 inhabitants located on the slopes, about thirty kilometers north-west of Béziers, at the foot of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park. On our 10-hectare estate, all the work is carried out by Jean-Paul and Albin, only the harvest, which is manual, requires the help of seasonal workers. Working in a traditional and reasoned way, our wines are particularly linked to our terroir, punctuated by the constantly different vintages. The name of our estate, La Femme Allongée, is the nickname given to Mont Caroux, which dominates the entire vineyard in the region. This mountain, which rises to 1091m above sea level, is linked to the legend of Cebenna, daughter of Titans, condemned by Zeus to hope for love without ever reaching it. Overwrought with sorrow, she went to the top of the mountain to die. Nature, tempered by her destiny, made her a stone box for eternity. The body of Cebenna, the Unfortunate, thus forever draws its shapes in the Caroux massif. Our estate has been certified High Environmental Value since 2019.
