Modern Terrain Contemporary Artwork designed in the Pacific Northwest by Ryan *girl McAbery Portland artist Ryan McAbery creates unique artwork using maps, plexiglass, illustration and original photography. She designs the clear, plexiglass maps from historical and gis files and illustrates intricate silhouettes from the details in each map. The white silhouettes are “tracings” of the map beneath - the silhouettes are all reflective imagery matching the geography or ecology of the maps’ location. Behind each silhouette & map is an original photograph taken by Ryan and her iphone, onsite, partnering with the map and silhouette. Her work tells the story of place and conservation, all wrapped up in a one of a kind contemporary design.
