Black Pepper Paperie Co., founded by Hadiya Williams, is a multidisciplinary art + design studio based in Washington, DC. Since 2017, Hadiya’s practice has explored play, culture and craft across a variety of mediums, including ceramic objects, installation, works on paper, surface pattern design, and generative art. Her work explores cultural memory, ancestry, and identity, drawing inspiration from the connections between West African art, early-20th-century modernism, and mid-century design.
