In 1935, after completing a Fanny Farmer candy-making course, Evangeline Hasiotis opened a small candy store in Manchester, NH, in the same building as her family’s apartment. From modest beginnings, her business thrived, and she bought a building, expanded the business, and named the business “Van Otis” in 1958 (a derivation of her given name). A year later, Van created the now-legendary Van Otis Swiss Fudge, a product which is often imitated, but never duplicated. Evangeline passed away in 1995, but her legacy lives on in the products we make every day in our production and retail facility, located right here in Manchester. For 90 years, we have been locally owned and operated, and are proud to have been named New Hampshire’s Best Chocolatier 17 times (and counting).
