About Janie's Life-Changing Baked Goods

Janie’s Life-Changing Baked Goods was founded in 2015 after Janie spent years struggling with addiction and homelessness in her early 20’s. Janie’s was born out of an act of self-care, baking, as Janie was reconstructing her life and trying to stay sober. With years of gaps on her resume and no work experience Janie had no idea what sort of career she wanted. While working as a building superintendent in NYC Janie began to bake again, something that had brought her joy as a child. At a time when Janie had no self-love, seeing the looks on people’s faces when they devoured her treats filled her with a pride she had never before felt. Thanksgiving 2015, fueled by the encouragement of friends she challenged herself to see if she could sell just 1 pie. She sold dozens! Working in Hot Bread Kitchen’s Culinary Incubator, Janie’s Life-Changing Baked Goods specializes in Pie Crust Cookies, Janie’s own invention, which have been featured in Gothamist as one of NYC’s top 20 cookies, Fox News, AM New York, Business Insider and Edible Manhattan. Most recently Janie Won Food Network's Chopped Sweets. Currently, she is working on disrupting the cookie industry by launching Pie Crust Cookies in grocery stores. Some current stockists are Whole Foods and Fresh Direct. Janie goes above and beyond in giving back to her community and is dedicated to developing relationships with local shelters, halfway houses, youth centers and rehabs through mentorship and second chance employment.Read their story
