I usually start my designs with the stones themselves because there is so much beauty in the natural minerals with which I work. But I feel inspiration abound in architecture, nature and everyday items whether it be an interesting silhouette or color combination. I keep my eyes open in life and sketch designs with specific lines and shapes in mind as well. Though my pieces tend to be on a more dramatic scale and often serve as a focal point, they are always complimentary to a look and not overbearing because I really strive for clean lines – nothing fussy or ornate. I make sure it is easy to wear and something that I would wear. As a busy woman who wears a lot of different hats in life, versatility is also key to my line. Most all of the pendants have opening bails so that you can mix and match with our hand hammered chains and semi-precious necklaces. I first started my jewelry line when I was pregnant and grew to appreciate the idea of dressing in basics and mixing up my look with jewelry, something I still do today. Who wears Dina Mackney?
