About Organic Essence

Organic Essence was founded in 2006 as one of the first body care companies to certify to the USDA Organic program. Everything we make is food-organic quality so you can be confident that toxic chemicals aren't hiding in plain sight as safe-looking ingredients. In 2008, a sperm whale washed up on our local beach. She had starved with a stomach full of plastic. Right then, on the spot, we committed to using genuinely sustainable packaging. But it didn't exist. So, we invented the paper packaging we use. We also sell our packaging to other brands all around the world. We believe that taking care of your body shouldn't involve toxic chemicals. But most of all, you should be conscious of the chemicals you use and never expose yourself to them unnecessarily. We began developing our paper packaging because of its harm to wildlife. But as we got more into it, we've learned that chemicals leaching from plastic is its main hazard to your health and life in general. This has deepened our commitment to non-toxic packaging. Organic Essence is located near Crescent City, California, one of the most pristine places in the lower 48, between the largest redwood trees on Earth and the Pacific. It was this special environment that made going to USDA Organic a no-brainer for us. And it was this environment that woke us up early to the existential hazards of plastic packaging.
