About Kerri Brewer Studio

Kerri Brewer is a ceramicist working in Red Hook, Brooklyn. She is a classically trained artist, who has had a successful career as a commercial photographer. These days, she is back to her roots, making functional ceramics utilizing a combination of handbuilt and wheel thrown techniques. Her handbuilt pieces take on a life of their own, each a slightly different shape, following the clay to where it wants to be. She often paints her pieces using underglaze and sgraffito, methods she learned as a young girl at the hands of her grandmother. Variation is to be expected, and embraced, each piece it’s own work of art. She works both in small and large scale, with capabilities of making pieces up to 24”x30”. Her work has been featured in the New York Times and DesignMilk Gift Guides, and is frequently seen in NYTCooking as well as seen in Domino magazine, and numerous other publications, and also graces the tables of some of New York’s finest restaurants. All pieces are made to order, and collaborations and commissions are welcome. Not all pieces are listed, please reach out if a particular work has caught your eye. When not in the studio, she is either sharing a meal with friends, or hanging with her Dalmatian pup, Effie, who is likely to be in the studio with her any time you stop by. Painted pieces can be in either layered or simple sgraffito, and will have varying surface decoration. Color choice is for dominant color. Happy to be back after a break.Read their story
