About Craftstones

Founded in 1953, Craftstones began as a pioneer in the production of stones for the growing lapidary market, developing the now widely used "tumbling" method to polish stones in bulk. What started with small, 10-pound batches polished in paint cans quickly evolved as demand soared, leading us to create larger, more efficient tumblers. Eventually, we perfected our process with industrial-scale, 6,000-pound tumblers—machines still used today by our parent company, Topstones, in South Africa. We are proud to be the primary distributor for Topstones in the United States and Canada. Craftstones now offers a selection of over 200 stone varieties in 11 different sizes, serving markets across the globe. Our stones are popular in jewelry, souvenirs, and particularly in the metaphysical sector, where they are embraced by New Age and alternative healing communities. Tumbled stones, especially, hold a special appeal here, as they retain their "natural" quality—polished without being cut or shaped by hand—a key feature for metaphysical applications.
