About The Blk Alien

Ashley de Ramus a.k.a “The Blk Alien,” is a portrait artist and apparel designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised in Detroit Mi, she always had an interest in the arts and fashion. She received a degree in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University. The Blk Alien was created as a way to have an outlet to heal from her severe depression and anxiety. She started to teach herself how to paint portraits and graphic designs in coffee shops before work. She would then post her work on social media which led to her exhibiting her artwork at galleries and pop-up shows across the Bay Area. The art she creates has an emphasis on spreading mental health awareness, existentialism and celebrating people of color who were always seen as the misfits. The Blk Alien is intended to let others know it’s ok to express yourself and be unapologetically you. Read their story
