About Woven With Hope

Woven With Hope exists to empower Arab women in a rural, North-African community. We provide training, support, and market access to women who have few other opportunities to earn an income. Each purchase enables these artisans to provide for their families and earn a voice in their communities. For many nomadic peoples, women traditionally demonstrated their value in the society through their skill in weaving. Tents and furnishings were all handwoven using techniques passed from mother to daughter since pre-historic times. However, as the tribes settled over the last century, this skill was gradually lost. As we work to revive this ancient craft, we are also restoring value to the descendants of these desert nomads. As a weaver begins to earn money, she earns respect within her home and community, allowing her to prioritize her children’s education and her family’s health. Since 2020, Woven With Hope has partnered with artisans to create quality, handmade products. We follow fair trade principles, use locally sourced materials, and provide wholistic support for the families of our artisans. We seek to build a brand which creates a positive, sustainable impact in our local community.Read their story
