About Amaruú

Amaruú takes its name from the Amaru, an ancient Andean symbol associated with transformation, continuity, and the connection between worlds. That spirit lives in everything we make, where ancestral weaving traditions are reimagined through a contemporary lens. Produced in small batches in Ecuador by Indigenous artisans, Amaruú creates blankets, ponchos, capes, scarves, shawls, and heirloom textiles that blend heritage craftsmanship with a refined modern aesthetic. Our collections are developed through close collaboration between our artisan weaving partners and our Canadian design team, with careful attention given to fibre selection, colour palettes, drape, finishing, and quality control. We work primarily with baby alpaca, Andean highland wool, and carefully selected natural fibre blends chosen for warmth, texture, and longevity. Inspired by the muted tones of the Andes itself, many collections draw from shades of stone, ash, clay, charcoal, moss, sand, and sun-worn earth. Designed to move naturally between fashion, interiors, and lifestyle retail, Amaruú pieces are often carried by resort boutiques, mountain and western lifestyle stores, artisan-focused retailers, and contemporary home shops. Every collection is woven in limited quantities, allowing the human hand to remain visible in the final work. Deeply rooted. Made to endure.
