About Jackie Besteman
I have worked as a freelance editorial illustrator for many years. Birds have called to me for the last 10 years or so. In love with nature, as well as decorative work, the birds are a perfect combination of beauty and symbolic power. They are soothing to people and they are messengers. I also call them nature's fashionistas. Putting them on cards, prints and other popular items seems like an ideal way to enrich the lives of bird and nature lovers. What makes my bird illustrations unique is the use of bold colour and design. The bird is the star and the coloured backgrounds as well as the precise rendering of the birds ensure that the cards stand out. It is a fresh take on these beautiful creatures and a magnet for nature lovers and their friends.
