About Léonard Parli

The Léonard Parli House was founded in 1874 by a Swiss confectioner Léonard Parli who discovered a delicacy called calisson during a trip to Aix-en-Provence. He was seduced by this sweetness and decided to found the first Calissons factory in Aix. For nearly 150 years, the manufacturing secrets of the Parli house have been carefully guarded. Since its creation in 1874, the two families that own Léonard Parli have passionately passed on the exclusivity of Parli know-how to each other. The large calissons factory, now the historic store, is located in the heart of the city of Aix-en-Provence, a stone's throw from the Rotonde and the Cours Mirabeau, at 35 Avenue Victor Hugo. Its original and attractive building has a facade pediment, carved from stone, with a shield bearing the Swiss cross framed by two oak and olive branches representing Switzerland and Provence. Known by the people of Aix and admired by tourists, the Léonard Parli House, a real institution, is listed as an Aix heritage site.Read their story
