Bug & Mini the company was founded in 2019, but our elderberry syrup has been our family recipe since 2016. Back in 2015, I became very frustrated with having to take off work (AND still pay for daycare) to take care of sick kids all the time. I knew I had to find a natural way to keep my kids from getting sick, and I stumbled upon elderberry syrup. Our family began using one of the commercial brands available, and it was the answer I was looking for. Until it wasn't...because I realized the brand I was using contained some ingredients I didn't care for AND my kids decided they didn't like it anymore! After seeing the difference elderberry had made for our family, I set out to figure out how to make my own, and after many unsuccessful batches, I found one that my picky kids actually LOVED! Our syrup is hand-crafted in small batches, using fresh elderberries. More specifically, Sambucus Nigra, which is the European black elderberry. Our berries are harvested by hand in Europe and flash frozen before shipping to the U.S. This means that our berries are picked at the peak of freshness and carefully handled to ensure they are exceptionally fresh and full of all the good stuff for your syrup! Additionally, we use only real food ingredients like raw honey from Wisconsin beekeepers, lemon, and Ceylon cinnamon. We also use only organic ingredients that we get as locally as possible.
