About Debra Mhairi

Hi, I’m Debra – the founder and designer behind Debra Mhairi. My small UK-based brand began in 2020 with hand-drawn pet portraits inspired by our Border Terrier, Ralph. What started as a personal passion has grown into a thoughtful range of greeting cards, prints, gifts, and tea towels—rooted in my original pen and ink illustrations. I still take on bespoke pet portrait commissions, which remain close to my heart. Each design starts as a hand-drawn black-and-white illustration created in my home studio. I use Winsor & Newton inks, Posca pens, fine-liners, and Prismacolor pencils on recyclable paper to achieve a high level of detail and quality. As a small business, I pour my heart into everything I create. Whether it’s a custom portrait or a charming, illustrated card, my goal is always to bring a smile to someone’s face with art that feels personal, thoughtful, and timeless. I work closely with a fantastic printer to produce everything in the UK using sustainable materials and beautiful finishes. All my products are plastic-free, printed on recycled or FSC-certified stocks, and include 100% recycled envelopes.
