About Evgenia

Evgenia is fine lingerie for the modern heartbreaker. It is versatile and beautiful, the ideal marriage of strength and delicacy. A fresh take on an old story, Evgenia lingerie is meant to be worn out and about, and not strictly relegated to the boudoir. Thoughtfully simple construction pairs with feminine silhouettes and French lace details. The intimate styling of bygone eras melds with modern cuts, culminating in a revolution of inner-outerwear. Born in 2011 as Honey Cooler Handmade, Evgenia began as a line of one-of-a-kind lingerie, with each piece utilizing the largely forgotten embellishment technique of insertion lace appliqué. Today, while Evgenia is quite a bit more streamlined than in its infancy, each piece is still made by hand by the designer herself, ensuring attention to detail and fit that is unavailable from larger brands. Designer Stephanie Bodnar graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 with a BA in Creative Writing and a freshly-stoked interest in fashion. After moving to California, she worked in a lace shop and a lingerie boutique while studying Fashion Design at FIDM. She was a designer in residence at San Francisco's prestigious Fashion Incubator program at Macy's Union Square for 2014 and 2015 and now operates her studio in the wilds of West Marin. The name Evgenia comes from Stephanie's paternal grandmother, Eugenia Mytska Bodnar, who immigrated from Ukraine in the 1940s and worked as a seamstress in Port Jervis, NY.Read their story
