About Date Lady

Back in 2005, Ryan and Colleen Sundlie found themselves in a brand new adventure. After welcoming their first baby, Henry, Ryan accepted a teaching job in the United Arab Emirates. So they packed up and moved to the desert. Colleen spent her days exploring local markets with Henry, delighted by the flavors, the hospitality… and one fruit that seemed to be everywhere: dates. Not the dried, boxed dates she remembered from home, but soft, caramel-like, melt-in-your-mouth dates. Then one day, Colleen picked up a jar of date syrup and everything changed. She brought it home and began using it like honey: baking with it, drizzling it over oatmeal, pouring it on pancakes… Before long, they were eating it straight off the spoon. After years of returning to the States with suitcases full of dates syrup, Ryan and Colleen realized they couldn’t keep this sweet treasure to themselves. So in 2012, Date Lady was born. Today, they’re proud to share date syrup, Barhi dates, date sugar, date paste, spreads, sauces, and more.
